A Unique opportunity

Would you like to be part of a great team that develops the most revolutionary pure hardware technology of this century?

Then we would like to introduce ourselves!

IMSystems is an energetic start-up with a small and enthusiastic team of 10 fte that is very ambitious to start and accelerate a technical revolution, together with you.

A harmonious atmosphere, normal working weeks (Monday till Friday) and a competitive salary are just a few things we believe are obvious rather than exceptional.

Every position, a key position

We are a small team where everyone has numerous responsibilities that may change on a regular basis due to the continuous growth.

Meetings are open for everyone and everyone really does value the input from every staff memberNot only to be kind, but we truly believe the only way to achieve this continuous growth is to make use of everyone’s skills, input and ideas.

To improve everyone’s skills, and to create an informal but professional working environment, we have got the Friday afternoon drinks, network events in our incubator RoboValley, a yearly company weekend and numerous possibilities for training and coaching.

Does it seem like a nice challenge to help our ambitious Dutch startup, IMSystems, with gathering a full understanding of the mechanics of our transmission? To use this knowledge to develop Finite Element Modelling (FEM) methods and apply them to optimize the lifetime of our designs? We are looking for an FEM expert that wants to fully understand the contact mechanics of the Archimedes Drive to improve the current models and map the impact of the resultant forces on the lifetime.

As an FEM R&D Engineer at IMSystems you are responsible for optimizing our drives, most notably to increase the lifetime.  To achieve this goal you’ll first need to gather a deep understanding of the present forces and stresses and their effect on the lifetime. This is a challenge, due to the traction the Archimedes Drive works on. It means we need to push our materials to their edges. As soon as you acquired enough knowledge of the contact mechanics and your theories are validated in our test set-ups, you will develop methods to apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) during the design process. Therefore we’re looking for an engineer with a lot of FEM experience, that works organized to completely understand a problem and is able to couple theory and practice. In return you’ll get a job where you can be creative and where you can have a big impact on the development of a new groundbreaking technology.

Pizza at midnight, long days and working exhaustively are a couple of stereotypical aspects of working at a startup that we all know. Not at IMSystems. A harmonious and safe atmosphere, normal office hours (Monday till Friday) and a competitive salary are just a few things we believe are obvious rather than exceptional. At the same time we are a small, committed and close team where you will never be a number in a cubicle.

The core tasks in short:

  • Gathering a deep insight in the forces and stresses in our drives and the effect of these stresses on the lifetime.
  • Development of methods to optimize for the lifetime of several drive components.
  • Applying your newly developed methods during the design of drives for customers.

We offer:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Share participation (each employee receives company shares).
  • A job with a lot of impact on the successful development of a new groundbreaking technology.
  • A job where you can be creative.
  • Stimulation of your professional development with among others possibilities for courses or coaching.

We ask:

  • BSc/MSc work and thinking level
  • At least 5 years of work experience in FEMing steel components and execution of FEAs
  • Knowledge of mechanics of materials (especially fatigue)
  • Fluent in English (also technical language)
  • Knowledge of contact mechanics and tribology (pre)

IMSystems is a fast growing and energetic Dutch startup with a small but enthusiastic team of 11 fte. Together we have the ambition spark the next technological revolution with our Archimedes Drive, especially in the field of industrial robotics. We do this by developing the qualities of all team members as far as we can. Everyone’s voice is heard, there is a flat hierarchy and input from each department is valued. Not only because we want to be nice, but also because we believe this mentality forms the base of our growth and successes.

Does it seem like a nice challenge to help our ambitious Dutch startup, IMSystems, with designing the products with which we will bring the market the quality it desires? To optimize the design to the point where they are ready for cost efficient production? We are looking for a creative engineer with an eye for details who likes to completely work out designs and maintain close contact with our manufacturers.

As Detailed Design Engineer at IMSystems you are responsible for transforming the preliminary designs of your colleagues into fully worked out detailed designs, in which design for production is applied. Next to design for production and making production drawings, you are also responsible for details such as tolerance stack analysis, the right fits and the convenient positioning of (bolt) holes. An extra challenge within your job activities is to set up a part library with convenient coding of the parts. Therefore we’re looking for a meticulous person that works organized to not miss any details in a design, due to which the requirements can be met. Besides, also creativity is important to come up with solutions when earlier design choice prove to be impossible from a production or assembly perspective.
