Test & Data Analysis Engineer
Do you love combining hands-on engineering with smart data analysis? Are you as comfortable writing Python as tightening bolts on a test rig? Do you want to accelerate hardware development and help shape the future of high-performance robotics?
Join IMSystems as a Test & Data Analysis Engineer and help make the Archimedes Drive the most advanced speed-reducer technology on the planet.
Apply HereYour Role
As a Test & Data Analysis Engineer, you will join an existing team and bring your expertise to increase our ability to take on and solve challenging engineering problems. You will take ownership of the full testing and data lifecycle for our mechanical drive prototypes:
- Testing & Setup Development
- Prepare and maintain rigorous test plans, including functional acceptance tests and validation protocols.
- Define acceptance criteria and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Conduct functional acceptance tests and document results.
- Support certification and compliance efforts through structured validation.
- Execute those mechanical and electromechanical tests.
- Build, modify, and improve test setups (mechanical and controls).
- Perform mechanical (dis)assembly of prototypes to configure new test conditions.
- Data Infrastructure & Software
- Program PLCs or Python scripts to operate test machines and acquire data.
- Maintain and extend a well-structured data storage system that gives all engineers quick access to new and historical datasets.
- Data Analysis & System Identification
- Develop clear, well-documented analysis algorithms.
- Understand the mechanical drive system in-depth to extract meaningful performance metrics (e.g., time variance, torque/velocity dependencies, friction characteristics).
- Support R&D with accessible tools for understanding prototype behavior.
- Reporting & Communication
- Create data sheets, visualizations, and clear reports for engineers, management, and customers.
- Present insights and test results in a structured and communicative way.
What You Bring
- MSc or PhD working/thinking level in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems & Control, or a related field. This means that you have the relevant degree, or you have demonstrated experience in this role previously.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience working with mechatronic drives in an industrial environment.
- Experience with system identification, control engineering, mechanical dynamics, data handling, and working with hardware.
- Practical mindset: able to build, debug, and refine hardware test setups.
- Strong programming skills (Python and/or PLC programming).
- Fluent in English, or fluent in Dutch with the ability to communicate in English (including technical terminology).
What We Offer
- Competitive salary.
- Share participation: every employee shares in the company’s success.
- Diverse and challenging technical projects—from hardware testing to algorithm development.
- Room for creativity with both sides of your job – engineering and data analysis.
- Strong support for your professional development.
- A positive, collaborative, and energetic team working to deliver a step-change in mechatronics and robotics.
- A healthy work-life balance with normal office hours
